History

While most of the companies that sell pizza have never had any real connections with Italy, Palermo’s passion for food reaches all the way back to the old country where pizza was first born. In fact, all the cherished family recipes used in our family’s pizzeria were carried to America from Sicily by our founder, Gaspare Fallucca, the man everyone loved and called Papa Palermo. Now into the 3rd generation of our family business, Papa’s commitment to using only the freshest quality ingredients has been passed onto us.

Palermo’s is an innovator in the frozen pizza category. Here’s just a few of our “firsts”:

• 1974 – Company began making frozen pizza
• 1989 – Palermo’s introduces the 1st rising crust pizza
• 1993 – 1st super premium private label
• 2003 – Company develops the 1st ultra thin pizza, Primo Thin™
• 2007 – 1st domestic hearth baked crust
• 2010 – Company launches Hand Tossed Style Pizza

Environmental Sustainability

Palermo’s is a responsible steward of the environment, having as little impact as possible. The manufacturing facility was built on reclaimed abandoned land and within a metro area to reduce travel of workforce. All lighting is motion activated and in the manufacturing area, high efficiency lighting is used. Additionally, all cardboard, plastic and paper is recycled. Even materials rejected from our bakery are recycled and made into high quality animal feed.
